Good-by First Shoes

Lev has officially outgrown his first pair of shoes, sandals which I'm told resembled the ones that my Zaydie (grandfather in Yiddish) Irving used to wear. He is now wearing his sneakers exclusively. We're hoping to get him some Crocks for Channukah, but those will be for the house since it will be winter. Savta Bubbie and Nama are bringing rain and winter boots and Mommy and Daddy are trying to figure out just how many pairs of shoes a 15 month old needs.
Lev has a reputation at gan for being fearless and curious. This means that Bubbie Chana and Morah Riki cannot take their eyes off him for a moment. He has a partner in crime named Naomi. The other day, Bubbie put a big toy chest in front of a door to let the kids know not to open that door. Lev and Naomi managed to move it away and open the door. Later in the day, Bubbie noticed her two mischief makers were missing. They were upstairs in her room! She says that Lev is learning boundries. I guess that I forget that even though he can get into trouble, he doesn't necessarily know it's trouble. I mean, he's only been around down here a little over a year. So we need to teach No, you can't do that, but, Yes, you can do this. For example: No, you cannot push the step-stool to the kitchen table and climb up, but Yes, you can stand on your bike and do a dance if you'd like.
Lev is also up to big mitzvas. The other day, Ayala (his hugging partner) got her foot stuck somewhere and Lev saw that if he removed her shoe, that she'd be able to get her foot out. He helped her take off her shoes, she got free, and Lev got a thank-you hug!
